Dismissal

Dismissal is rare, but it has/can happen. Adequate warning will be given unless the offense requires immediate dismissal.

Dismissal

The following procedure will be followed for dismissal due to
absenteeism
:

  • A verbal warning will be given the first time a student has an unexcused absence.
  • A written warning will be given at the second incident
  • The third unexplained absence may result in termination of a student’s

           employment at the Library.

Immediate dismissal will be enforced in response to any violation of the University's drug and alcohol policy.

Dismissal will/can be enforced in response to the University's sexual harassment policy.

Theft or destruction of property will also result in immediate dismissal as will the falsifying of library records.

Falsifying of library records includes

  • signing in for someone else,
  • falsifying your hours,
  • or unnecessarily changing records in the library’s database.
  • A student assistant may be dismissed for consistent poor performance, improper behavior during working hours, and/or disrespectful behavior to library staff and/or library patrons. A student who is guilty of any of these behaviors will receive a verbal warning from the department supervisor. If the behavior continues without improvement, the student will receive a written warning from the Access Services Librarian. If the offensive behavior persists, the student will be dismissed.
